In May of 2009 I was contacted by Richard Schroder. Richard wrote, "My mother was Kathleen (nee Rice) and father was Jan Schroder. They met and married in Maracaibo. I was born in June 1944. My parents worked for Shell from around 1940 to 1963. My father was Dutch and worked as draughtsman / printing manager in the geology department in the main Shell offices. My mother was English and initially worked as an SRN in the Caribbean Hospital (where I was born) and later ran a kindergarten in Colonia Bella Vista. My brother Martin and I attended a school run by John Lemon and a Mr. Cassels in Las Delicias. Martin and I then went to boarding schools in England, returning frequently for holidays." Richard sent me copies of some pages of his family photo album which are posted below. Click on any image to view a larger copy.
