Home General Interest Chaos Following the Death of Gomez

On 5/27/08 I received an e-mail from Susan Mortlock Benedetto which read in part:

"I recently found this letter with my mother's personal papers. Although I don't know who the author is, his name was Bill Vincent, worked for Mene Grande in Maracaibo, and appeared to be British. Maybe someone in VOB will recognize him. The letter is fascinating, recounting the days in Maracaibo just after the death of Gomez in 1935."

Later I heard from Tim Ord (Bill Vincent's nephew). Bill retyped the letter so it could be posted as an HTML document together with some interesting photos. You can see both the original letter and the illustrated version of the letter below.
